Clothing Collection 12th April

Our Parents’ Association have arranged a clothing collection for this Friday, 12th April. The fundraising that our Parents’ Association undertake is vital for the day to day running of the school and we would urge you to offer what support you can.

Items for collection; Clothing, towels, bedding (sheets, duvet covers), shoes (in pairs), curtains, bags and belts.

Items unsuitable for collection; Pillows, duvets or soft toys.

Donation bags can be left at the school up to Friday morning. Donations for clothing collections can be made year round, please contact the Parents’ Association or the school office.

A Visit from the INTO

We were delighted to welcome Dorothy McGinley, President of the INTO to our school.

We got to try on her chain of office, it was really heavy!

As part of our studies for the Blue Star programme this week we explored our subjects through ceramics. We had great fun making our models to accompany our projects.

Green Schools Travel Flag

As part of earning our Green Flag for Travel, the pupils have been learning about the impact car idling can have on air quality. Whilst we are lucky at Rathmore NS to be situated in the countryside, with lots of fresh air around us, the pupils are aware that idling engines do have a negative impact on the air around us. We hope that the car driving people in our school community will try to do their bit for the environment, and switch off car engines whilst in the school car park.

Amazing Adaptations & Champions of Conservation

We've had an amazing animal filled year with Dublin Zoo (did you know that Dublin Zoo is one of the oldest in Europe opening in 1830)

We learned how animals adapt to survive in the wild, we studied all these amazing animals and took a virtual tour of the zoo!

We learned all about conservation and endangered species and now we're going to go to the zoo for real and we can't wait. While we are there we will take the Rainforest Rangers course, I wonder what we'll learn about this time?
